India and England are set to make history by playing the first-ever women’s Test match at Lord’s in 2026. This will be the inaugural women’s Test match at the iconic cricket ground. England will host India at the “Home of Cricket,” marking a significant milestone in women’s cricket. The BCCI has recently placed a strong emphasis on Test matches for the India women’s team.
On Thursday, 22 August, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) officially announced that Lord’s will host its first-ever women’s Test match in 2026. England and India will face off in this historic one-off Test at Lord’s.
The two teams recently competed in a one-off women’s Test in December 2023, where India secured a dominant victory over England by 347 runs at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Although Lord’s has previously hosted women’s matches, they have all been limited to white-ball formats.
“It has been confirmed that India Women will return in 2026 for a one-off Test match at Lord’s, the first-ever Women’s Test to be held at the Home of Cricket,” the ECB stated in a press release. “England Women have played white-ball matches at Lord’s for the past three years, with another scheduled next year, but this will be the first time the ground hosts a Women’s Test match,” the ECB added.
